About us

The ABA center is a proud partner of the American company Global Autism Project (GAP).

It has been helping children with autism and centers dedicated to them around the world since 2003. Under the supervision of experts and certified behavioral analysts from GAP, the center is developing in all aspects.

We are a center specializing in the education of children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disorders.

We offer individual therapies, educational programs and support services for children
and their families. We are located in Prague and our goal is to help children with disabilities
in their overall development and participation in society.

The ABA Center is a therapeutic center for children with autism spectrum disorders and other neurodevelopmental disorders. From a small center founded in 2017, within three years it has become a center with 13 therapists who base their intervention exclusively on ABA principles. Currently, four
of our therapists are heading towards the certification exam under the guidance of supervisors.

Our approach is based on the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), currently one
of the few scientifically based interventions for children with autism. Other scientifically based methods include occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech therapy. Experts from these fields come to the center for consultations to help us put together an effective program for our children.

Under their supervision, our therapists improve their clinical skills, we are dedicated to spreading awareness in the field of autism, and together we also work on professional research. In addition to the experts from GAP, our work and the programs of our children are also supervised by supervisor Alyona Ahmadova, BCBA.

OUR GOALS

There is no magic pill or method that will solve all problems at once. Behind every progress there is a lot of work and joint effort.

For the intervention to be truly effective, it is necessary to involve the child as much as possible in the intensive work. The learning procedures based on ABA are logical and understandable, and our goal is to teach parents how to work with their child in everyday activities. An important part of the intervention is therefore the ongoing training of parents, to whom we gradually pass on the necessary skills that will allow us to follow the program also in the home environment.

Let's do it for all families who need it. Our goal is therefore also to spread awareness about autism and available methods, and to educate professionals who come into contact with our children.

Support for children with disabilities

Our ABA-Center is specialized in educating children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disorders. With our team of experts and an individual approach to children, we create an environment in which they can develop and overcome their difficulties. Our services include therapy, education, family support and other forms of assistance.

Autism

The word autism comes from the Greek word autos = self. Automatically is often associated with the symptom of withdrawal. Autism is one of the pervasive developmental disorders and is also called autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It is a lifelong neurodevelopmental disorder.

This is an innate difference in the development and functioning of the brain, which causes the child to behave and think differently from his peers. He has difficulties in communication and understanding, reacts differently to common situations. As a result, the child often does not adequately understand what he sees, hears and experiences. He does not evaluate the information that comes to him in the way we are used to.

The manifestations of autism are very diverse, we cannot find two identical individuals with autism. Despite this diversity, the qualitative impairment is manifested primarily in three areas: communication, social behavior - interaction, imagination (stereotypical range of interests).

Despite the beliefs associated with autism presented in the media, there is no model example of a person diagnosed with autism, which can belong to a person of above-average intelligence as well as to a mentally retarded person. While some people with this diagnosis are withdrawn, others can be very social. Some of them require special education and constant supervision, while others live completely independently and start families.

Estimates and statistics indicate that there are an estimated 100,000-200,000 people with autism spectrum disorder living in the Czech Republic, with more ambitious figures pointing even higher.

Currently, the awareness of both the professional and lay public about autism is improving significantly, and with it, correct and timely diagnosis. There are very effective forms of early intervention that help develop the individual in all directions. There are many approaches to autism therapy, there are methodologies based on scientific research as well as experimental approaches, and choosing the right direction requires critical thinking, because many methods can be potentially threatening. The rule is that there is no lower limit for starting therapy and the earlier the intervention is started, the better the potentially achieved results. Atypical behavior can be observed at a very early age in infants and toddlers. It does not have to be a symptom of autism, but if there are more warning signs, it is not advisable to wait until the age of 3, when doctors usually give a diagnosis, and thus prepare for the years when the child is most teachable. Even at the slightest suspicion, it is advisable to start working with the child and develop his social and communication skills.

Currently, autism is not curable, but that does not mean that a person with autism cannot develop and advance. The right way of working develops the potential of the individual without harming him. There is no miracle pill that would change everything, behind every progress there is a lot of work.
